Professional profile

Kadir Cortés is an attorney and notary public and a partner at R. Loría Abogados. He has practiced law since 2002, building a career focused on civil, commercial and labor litigation, as well as alternative dispute resolution. He works primarily with mid-sized companies and individual Costa Rican and foreign clients who require court representation or preventive legal counsel in these areas, and he is equally comfortable acting as a strategic advisor before a conflict arises or as an advocate once proceedings are underway.

In labor matters, he advises employers on structuring employment contracts, drafting internal regulations, and designing disciplinary procedures that comply with Costa Rican law and reduce future exposure. He also represents clients in labor court proceedings when litigation becomes unavoidable, guiding them through each stage of the process. In civil and commercial matters, he has handled a wide range of litigation and debt-collection cases for both corporate and individual clients, combining technical rigor with a practical understanding of his clients’ commercial interests.

His approach is geared toward swift, reliable solutions, with the goal of resolving each matter in the least time and at the lowest cost possible for the client. Whenever a dispute allows for a negotiated outcome, he favors settlement and dialogue over prolonged litigation, viewing the courtroom as a last resort rather than a default. This combination of preventive counsel, disciplined litigation, and a results-oriented mindset has made him a trusted partner for clients navigating complex legal challenges in Costa Rica.
